I'm Ute Thomas — an executive coach and former senior leader with over 24 years of leadership experience in fast-paced, high-growth retail. I support senior leaders and organisations to build confident, inclusive, and high-performing leadership cultures.
My career was built within Lidl, in environments where execution matters as much as strategy. I understand leadership not as a theory, but as a lived, daily responsibility — demanding emotional intelligence, difficult decisions, and at times, deliberately moving towards conflict, even when it went against my natural instinct. I learned that this is often where real and lasting change happens.
Having frequently been the only woman in the boardroom, I know the additional nuances that female leaders in predominantly male environments navigate. Over time, I moved from relying on a façade of confidence to becoming a genuinely authentic leader with a strong, credible presence — and I now help others make that same journey.
Today, I work with people and organisations that recognise leadership effectiveness is built on clarity, trust, and genuine belonging. My approach is grounded in deep connection, inclusion, and psychological safety — principles that enable leaders to lead with confidence while creating environments where people perform, grow, and thrive.
